What They're Saying About Us
2011-04-29

...I also want to say that I think you did a fine job of sizing up conditions in the Extruder Room and responding appropriately. Your men did an excellent job of working with and around the other trades, and that can make or break a shutdown. I thought the work that you did in the Extruder Room all looked great...As far as future work goes, I wouldn't have any problem approving or recommending Stephens and Smith.

Green Build House
2008-06-21

Stephens & Smith Construction is proud to provide the concrete foundation for a “green build” house in the historic Malone neighborhood. The house at 631 N. 24th St. is a part of the design project for the UNL Archspace project. University students have designed all parts of the home which include passive solar techniques, materials and building methods essential for sustainable design including the incorporation of hay bales into the walls to reduce energy consumption.
Stephens & Smith was selected to pour the foundation and with the “green build” construction design, used a high percentage of fly ash in the concrete that was poured. The use of fly ash in concrete creates significant benefits for our environment. Fly ash use conserves natural resources and partially displaces production of other concrete ingredients, resulting in significant energy savings and reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

When complete, the home will be sold to a participant of the NeighborWorks® Lincoln First Time Homebuyer program.
